“We rarely have done anything traditionally, so an Iceland wedding just seemed perfect.”
Andi and Ravi’s story began online — Ravi was actually Andi’s very first match on eHarmony. They dated briefly, then went their separate ways. Years later, they reconnected on another dating site, and both knew the universe was telling them something. Ravi had always felt Andi was the one who got away, and this time he fell for her all over again — along with her one-year-old son. They built a home together in San Diego and soon grew their family. Their two boys represent the laughter, joy, music, and love at the heart of their relationship.
Andi often says she fell in love with Ravi the moment she saw his extensive Lonely Planet collection — the product of years of adventurous travel across the globe. They had independently visited many of the same places around the world, but despite all those overlapping itineraries, Iceland became the first passport stamp they shared together.
Iceland had always been a dream destination for both of them. The epic landscapes and sense of remoteness made it the perfect setting for a wedding that didn’t follow the usual script. They researched many destinations around the world before discovering MJ Studios, and after seeing the work, they knew they’d found their photographer.
Their Iceland wedding ceremony needed to reflect who they are — a celebration surrounded by Iceland’s extraordinary natural beauty, with cultural elements from Ravi’s Hindu background, and their closest friends and family present. They were thrilled that so many of the people they’d previously adventured with around the world were willing to travel to Iceland to witness their vows. There were plenty of unknowns going in: how the children would handle the long flights, what the Icelandic weather would deliver, and whether all the arrangements — made through travel guide recommendations and sometimes tricky email exchanges — would actually come together. The fact that everything fell into place felt like confirmation that this wedding, and their future, was meant to be.
Iceland is one of the most extraordinary places in the world to have a destination wedding. The combination of waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, glaciers, and endless golden-hour light creates a setting unlike anything else. For couples who want something far from conventional — whether that’s a multicultural ceremony, an intimate elopement, or a celebration with a small group of loved ones — Iceland delivers in a way no other destination can.
