Sara and Jeff chose one of the most stunning wedding venues in Italy — Villa Pizzo on the shores of Lake Como — for their September celebration, and what a wedding it turned out to be.
Everything started with the rehearsal dinner at Grand Hotel Tremezzo, where friends and family from around the world came together. The first days of September brought perfect weather, warm evenings by the lake, and — naturally — the best pizza in the world.
But the next day, just before the ceremony at Villa Pizzo, the rain arrived. Lake Como is known for its sunny, picture-perfect weddings, so nobody was expecting it. Sara was in tears, and everyone rallied around her — especially her father, who was the kindest, most reassuring presence in the room. I captured some of the most beautiful, candid photographs of the day during those quiet moments. There was something deeply moving about it, and I knew everything was going to be just fine.
Rain has never had any impact on my work as a wedding photographer — I actually love shooting in the rain. My enthusiasm must have been contagious, because within 15 minutes we had ordered over 50 colourful umbrellas from a local store. Soon after, we were all gathered on the lakeside terrace of Villa Pizzo for a deeply emotional ceremony overlooking the water. The evening continued with dinner inside the villa, dancing, cake cutting in the garden under string lights, and a fireworks display over the lake to close the night.
Villa Pizzo is one of the finest venues for a destination wedding on Lake Como. Its historic terrace, lush gardens, and direct access to the lake make it an extraordinary setting — rain or shine.
